Grant Collard

Chief Executive Officer

Grant is a Founder and Partner at Redstone Residential and serves as CEO. His responsibilities include business development as well as overseeing the financial operations of the company’s portfolio. Since 2009, Grant has grown Redstone from 1,000 to just under 10,000 beds of student housing, and has underwritten in excess of $290mm in closed student housing acquisitions. Grant is a graduate of the BYU Marriott School of Management, where he studied Finance. Grant holds a real estate broker license in the States of Utah, California, and Washington.

Jake Jarman

Chief Operations Officer

Jake is Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Redstone Residential. As a widely respected customer service and customer experience guru, his primary responsibilities include overseeing the company’s sales activities and ensuring successful leasing at the company’s portfolio properties. Prior to his time at Redstone, Jake was president of a manufacturing company who marketed their products through online sales. Jake has also worked as a licensed Massage Therapist and enjoys helping people feel and be their best.

J. Gaylun Smith


Gaylun is Founder and Partner at Redstone Residential and serves as President. Gaylun brings 40 years of “on the ground” management experience to Redstone Residential. He began his career in the property management industry as a maintenance manager in 1976, as a college student. Since then, Gaylun has owned and operated thousands of beds of student housing and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. Gaylun graduated from BYU with a degree in Finance. He holds a Utah and Michigan real estate broker license.

Eric Berg

Portfolio Manager

Eric is a Portfolio Manager at Redstone Residential. Eric has been working in the Property Management industry for the past 8 years. He began working part-time as a maintenance technician while getting his education at Brigham Young University. Since that time he has gained experience at every level of property management. He is currently a portfolio manager who oversees various properties in several states. Eric’s experience with the different levels of property management has given him a well-rounded background and the ability to give guidance concerning the different issues that property managers are presented with on a daily basis. Eric’s hands-on experience gives him a unique perspective that ensures the success of the properties in his portfolio. Eric currently manages a portfolio of over 2000 student housing beds, 100 market-rate multi-family units, and 350,000 square feet of shopping centers.

Donetta Knight

Portfolio Manager

Donetta brings nearly 40 years of experience in student housing to Redstone Residential. Donetta manages a large portfolio of several of our UVU and BYU properties.

Marissa Litel

Human Resources Systems Coordinator

Marissa has served in almost every position imaginable (still hasn't tried maintenance!) at Redstone Residential. While she currently oversees HR and is our internal systems expert, she started at Redstone in 2009 as a Community Assistant. More recently, she was the property manager of a 700 bed, Class-A student housing development. In our corporate office, she started as a property accountant in Redstone's accounting department. Marissa has significant front-line experience working on-site at student housing developments, and enjoys training staff and assisting in solving problems to give managers the tools they need to be successful. Marissa is a graduate of Utah Valley University where she studied Business Management and Mathematics.

Ashley Wood

Director of Leasing

Ashley is Director of Leasing at Redstone Residential. She began her career in the student housing industry as an on-site community assistant, and since has served as a Leasing Manager and Property Manager at 800 bed and 700 bed student housing properties, respectively. As Director of Leasing, Ashley oversees and facilitates the leasing of Redstone’s entire portfolio. Ashley graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Michael Collard


Michael serves as a Property Accountant at Redstone Residential. Over the last five years Michael has provided back-end support to go with Redstone Residential's growth with the implementation of new accounting systems, new payroll systems and a streamlining of the company's benefits program. Michael oversees accounting functions for 11 properties in Redstone's portfolio, as well as oversees financial operations for the company's commercial real estate affiliate, NAI Vista.

Stephany Downing

Property Controller

Stephany Downing is the Property Controller at Redstone Residential. Her main areas of focus include supervision of production of financial statements for Redstone's portfolio on a monthly basis. Prior to Redstone, Stephany held various accounting positions with Campus Evolution Villages and United Campus Housing. Stephany graduated with a B.S. in Accounting at Utah Valley University and earned an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix.

Bryton Wood

Director of Marketing

Bryton brings a variety of experience in marketing and design to our team. He studied graphic design at BYU, and serves to enhance our company and portfolio property's marketing and advertising efforts. Bryton partnered with our team in 2014 after running his own brand development company. He oversees the design and manufacturing of custom signage across Redstone’s portfolio as well as numerous front-end web development projects.

Julie Allison

Office Manager

Julie brings to the company 17 years of executive office experience. She prides herself on professionalism and organization. At Redstone, Julie is oversees much of our accounts payable process as well as coordinates travel for the team. Julie studied Psychology at Palomar College and Brigham Young University. She is a great asset to our organization.
